1. IIT Madras:
IIT Madras (Indian Institute of Technology Madras) is a public technical institution that is situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is sometimes referred to as IITM or IIT Madras. It has been chosen as one of India’s eight public Institutes of Eminence. It is acknowledged as an Institution of National Significance and is the primary Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Campus:

IIT Delhi provides dual degree B.Tech.-M.Tech. degrees as well as Bachelor of Technology programmes in a variety of subjects. Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced is used to determine acceptance to these courses.
A new Department of Design was formally established at IIT Delhi in March 2018 to support design research and education. The IDDC had jurisdiction over the 25-year-old layout course at the time The Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme at IIT Delhi will launch in the academic year 2022-2023.
Rankings:
IIT Delhi received a ranking of 174 overall and 46 in Asia in the 2022 QS World University Rankings. The Academic Ranking of International Universities placed it in the 701–800 range in 2023.IIT Delhi was placed second in India for engineering in the 2022 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) with a rating of 88.12.
3. IIT Bombay:
In 1958, IIT Bombay was established. The IITs were designated as Institutes of National Significance by the Parliament in 1961.The 545-acre IIT Bombay campus may be found in Powai, East Mumbai, seen between Vihar and Powai lakes. A campus’s buildings are separated into groups. The main building, a number of departmental annex buildings, and auditoriums make up the majority of the academic area. A hallway called Endless Corridor connects each department’s annexes. Most of the dorms are located beyond the Convocation Hall. There are a total of 18 hostels, two of which—Hostels 10 and 11—as well as a section of the newest hostel—Hostel 15—are specifically designed for female students.
University Office
The Head of Academic Affairs, a tenured professor at the institute, is in charge of the academic office. A permanent administrative structure under the direction of a Deputy Registrar assists the Dean (education). The Dean of Student Affairs (DoSA), that handles all of the non-academic issues of students, and the Academic Office work closely together. In 2022, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) placed it third in the league with a rating of 82.35 and third among engineering institutions with a rating of 83.96. Also, NIRF ranked it ninth in the management rating with a rating of 66.24.
4. IIT KANPUR:
In 1959, the institute was founded. The Kanpur Indo-American Project helped a group of nine US research institutes aid the institute in its creation to become one of the initial Indian Institutes of Technology (KIAP)
Campus:
IIT Kanpur’s campus spans almost 420 hectares and is situated on the Grand Trunk Road, 15.3 kilometers (9.3 miles) west of Kanpur City (1,000 acres). The UP government provided this land in 1960, and the institute shifted to its present location in March 1963. There are around 6478 students enrolled in the institute, including 500 research associates, 2540 postgraduate students, and 3938 undergraduates.

Rankings:
India Today placed IIT Kanpur third among engineering educational institutions in the nation in 2021. According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2020, it was placed sixth altogether and fourth amongst Indian colleges of engineering. In terms of government engineering institutes, Outlook India placed it fifth in 2022.
5. IIT KHARAGPUR:
In Kharagpur, West Bengal, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is a government technical institute that was founded by the Indian government. The institute was the first IIT to open its doors in 1951 and is identified as an Institute of National Significance. The Government of India granted it the title of Institute of Eminence in 2019.

Situated 120 kilometers to the west of Kolkata is IIT Kharagpur. In the West Midnapore district, the campus is situated five kilometers from Kharagpur Train Station.
