Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy is an American entrepreneur and presidential candidate. He founded Roivant Sciences, a pharmaceutical company, in 2014. In February 2023, Ramaswamy declared his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination in the 2024 United States presidential election.
Ramaswamy claims the United States is in the middle of a national identity crisis precipitated by what he called “new secular religions like COVID-ism, climate-ism, and gender ideology”. He is also a critic of environmental, social, and corporate governance initiatives (ESG). In August 2023, Forbes estimated Ramaswamy’s net worth at more than $950 million; his wealth comes from biotech and financial businesses.
Vivek Ramaswamy’s has his Lagna in Purvaashada, a Nakshatra that is loving, caring and yet has a strong fighting spirit. It can be brash and obstinate when the need arises. The Lagna Lord Jupiter is placed in the sign of Capricorn, its sign of debility and yet it is strong because it is retrograde. As per classics, a retrograde and debilitated Jupiter is to be considered as an exalted Jupiter. Hence, Jupiter is very powerful, more so now as Vivek is running a Jupiter Mahadasha. Jupiter is well placed in Shravana nakshatra which is a nakshatra for wealth and Administration. This gives him a deep insight about the rights and wrongs of society and like the Deity of this Nakshatra, he too would make no bones in calling a spade a spade. As Jupiter also aspects his 6th and 10th Houses, it brings in luck and makes him rise high in life. His intelligence and brash nature can also be reflected by the placement of the 8th Lord Moon in the 6th House of discretion. Placed in Krittika nakshatra, it shows that he would have the discretion to know where to apply his valour and would also hold a commander in chief type of positions throughout his life.
Rahu in the 5th House gives him a highly intelligent mind as per Bhavarth Ratnakar. This Rahu is placed in the nakshatra of Bharani which impels him to learn to be steady and probably not to rash. As Rahu also aspects his Lagna, it makes him think differently and make changes. He has a great capacity to be a trailblazer in whatever that he decides to do. However, he should also be cautious not to trust people because Rahu in Bharani can bring unpleasant surprises with friends turning into traitors.
Venus placed Ardra nakshatra as the 6th in the 7th House gives him the mindset to move into business after experiencing at other firms. (Please check my video on profession https://youtu.be/OGMtaWpQjxo ) As Venus is placed in Ardra, the nakshatra of Rudra who has a great knowledge of medicine as he is also known as Vaidyanath- the Lord of the Vaidyas or physicians and Bhutnath or the Lord of the Bhutas – the elements, it gives one aninnate knowledge on medicine. Venus, Shukracharya himself has great knowledge of medicine and is the sole holder of Shanjivani Vidya, the knowledge bestowed to him by Lord Shiva. Hence, Venus in Ardra gives him a great profession in Medicine and Technology as Ardra also relates to technology.
Again, a debilitated Mars in Pushya in the 8th House gives him great knowledge and skill. Debilitated Mars gives him frustration and angst but makes him a great king maker. He has power wielding abilities. 8th House is the House of sudden changes. 5th Lord in 8th House brings in immense amount of money through good use of intelligence and reasearch facilities. Mars in 8th House makes a person a great thinker and planner which Pushya as a nakshatra also fecilitates.
Sun, the 9th Lord placed in Ashlesha in the 8th House shows intense sadhna or spiritual practices which has brought about a great deal of changes in life. It also shows that he will have to take pains for things that he considers his duty. Ashlesha as a nakshatra, shows duty for mother and motherland. Born and brought up in America, he has a strong connect with the country and will be able to withstand any challenge for it.
Mercury is the planet of communication and ideas and for Vivek Ramaswamy, it is also the Lord of the Houses of partners and the House of Karma, the 10th House.
I have often stated and always maintained that retrograde planets show pending Karma. Vivek has two planets, incidentally his Kendra Lords which are retrograde – Jupiter and Mercury. Kendras, as we know are houses of work, Vishnusthana, hence giving him the Charisma and the deep seated desire to work towards Finance and Administration. An interesting fact is that both these planets are opposite each other. Jupiter and Mercury in a relation show industrious nature which can be great at whatever work they try. They show ideas and proper implementation and expansion of those ideas.
We now come to the planet Ketu, which in 11th House shows organisation attachments and growth. Placed in the nakshatra of Swati, it shows that he would be able to become the lifeline of any organisation that he joins. However, anyone questioning his authority may face severe backlash and he is unapologetic about being independent and highly capable. He can actually be a force to reckon with as the Prana or Vayu when in full force has the ability to uproot the greatest of trees and houses. He has the capacity to show off his indominable spirit to people when he is challenged.
This is much supported by 2nd and 3rd Lord Saturn placed in 11th House in the D 1 in Vishakha Nakshatra. Vishakha shows an ambitious nature and the ability to make things happen. It is a typical “I come, I see, I conquer” Nakshatra and is also a fearless warrior. Saturn placed here gives consistency and the determination to ceaselessly work hard to achieve all long-term goals.
A very interesting point to note is the placement of planets in 2, 5, 8 and 11 Houses or the Panaphara Houses. The Panaphara Houses show money, power, and associations. As per Jataka Parijata, when people have planets in squares from each other, which need not be in squares from the lagna causing ‘Karakakhya Yoga’ in one’s horoscope. However, since there is also the presence of Rahu and Ketu and a debilitated planet, some effects of the ‘Karakakhya Yoga’ are watered down.
In transit around 4th November 2024, Saturn is in Trine with Natal Saturn and Jupiter is retrograde and Trine with Natal Retrograde Jupiter. Trines transits support Natal positions and hence chances of winning in the election seems fair.
As an astrologer, I feel that the chart shows immense potential in terms of power and money. However, the absolute power may be elusive as Saturn is sitting with Ketu in the D 1 and Saturn aspects Ketu in the D 10 where Saturn is placed in the Lagna and Ketu in the 10th House. Ketu, unlike Rahu which is a hardcore materialistic planet and is capable of giving all material comforts and growth, limits the material growth of any individual no matter how capable they may be. It is seen in the charts of many known people like King Edward VIII of England who had this combination and later abdicated the throne. He may attain a key position in the cabinet and be a great king maker with a lot of powers, but he may not be able to sustain the post of the President of the USA for a long period of time.
